Closer Exudes a Humanistic Perspective.
A deconstruction of the female figure will be sure to greet your viewers with the warmth of human connection. Strong enough to stand alone, but soft enough not to challenge your other works. Its dynamics will add variety to both your conversations and to your space.

INSPIRATIONS + OBSERVATIONS:
Blue Nude started off a series of female figures that also includes Closer and Trust. The initial concept was to depict one figure into three different positions, so when viewed together one would perceive movement. Well it's always good to start out with a plan, but as in life things don't always go accordingly.
Blue Nude, turned into trophy like stance. Depicting an 'ideal' archetype of the womanly figure. In painting Closer, I started to play with the ideas of decontructing that 'ideal' deconstructing her into a reflective stance. Closer lead me to Trust - trusting my instincts instead of the initial plan. Trust really shows a relaxed, instinct following, graphic pathway to private truths and pronounces intimacy for all to see.
The latex paint really takes center stage showing the environment almost pulling on these figures, defining their outer edges; giving them a definition; or even a context. The tension between their backgrounds and foregrounds makes the negative space just as important as the positive space.
